In 2010, Barnes PR was asked to design and implement the political campaign of entrepreneur and lawyer, Myron V. Walwyn. After an exciting and engaging campaign, in 2011 Walwyn was first elected to office with a convincing victory that earned him the second highest number of votes in the general election. This campaign defied traditional Virgin Islands campaigning with its innovative use of of technology and social media in a strategic and successful way.
In 2015, Barnes PR again spearheaded Walwyn’s political race, introducing perhaps for the first time in the region, the use of a mobile app for persons to stay connected with Walwyn’s campaign. This high-energy and youth-centred campaign garnered Walwyn the most votes in the election, also setting a new record for votes counted for any one Territorial Representative and contributed meaningfully to the overall success of the client’s political party.
Since 2011, Walwyn has been the Virgin Islands Minister for Education, Culture, Youth Affairs and Sports and a Territorial Representative, and continues to be one of the most accessible and popular politicians in the Virgin Islands.
